Choosing
Both plugins automate WordPress from inside WordPress, so the choice is less about architecture and more about how an automation is put together. FlowWP draws a workflow as a graph: one trigger, then steps that branch and meet again, each run recorded step by step. Uncanny Automator builds a recipe: triggers in one section, actions in another, with conditions on each action deciding whether it runs.
A recipe suits automations that are a list of things to do. A graph suits automations that take different paths for different cases.
There is no importer for recipes. Most recipes map to a FlowWP workflow with the same trigger and actions, and FlowWP’s templates cover many common ones. Move one automation at a time, and switch the old one off when the new one is live, so the same event is not handled twice.
FAQ

There is no importer for Uncanny Automator recipes. Most recipes map to a FlowWP workflow of the same trigger and actions, and FlowWP’s templates cover many common ones.
They are separate plugins and nothing in FlowWP depends on Uncanny Automator, so you can try FlowWP on a workflow or two before deciding. Avoid automating the same event in both, or it will happen twice.
