What it does
Say what should happen, in your own words, and FlowWP builds the workflow for you. “When someone buys the yearly plan, post it in #sales and send them the welcome email two days later” comes back as a trigger, a Slack message, a delay and an email, already joined up and set up, on the same canvas you would have built it on by hand.
What you get is a draft to look over. Nothing is saved until you keep it, and nothing runs until you activate it.
How it works
- Built from steps your site really has. The AI chooses from the steps this site can run: the plugins you have installed and the steps your plan includes. It cannot name a WooCommerce trigger on a site without WooCommerce, or a step your plan does not have.
- Two passes: choose, then configure. First the AI picks the steps and how they connect. Then it fills in the settings for only those steps, including which values from earlier steps each one uses.
- Checked like any workflow. The result goes through the same validator the editor uses. A step type the site cannot run is dropped, and a draft that fails is sent back once with the validator’s own findings. The fix is kept only if it makes things better.
- Blanks stay blank. An address, a channel or a form is something only you know, so FlowWP lists what you still need to choose under Before it can run, you choose instead of making something up. Anything worth a second look is listed as well.
- Keep it, or describe it differently. Keep it and open the editor saves the draft as a new workflow. From there it is an ordinary workflow: edit, test and activate it as usual.
Change a workflow by describing the change
Open a workflow and say what should be different: “add a Slack message after the email” or “wait a day before sending”. FlowWP answers with the change itself (what was added, taken out, reconnected or reconfigured) so you can agree to it at a glance.
Steps you did not mention are left exactly as they were, with their positions, labels, notes and settings intact. The change lands on the canvas unsaved, so the editor’s undo and your version history still work.
Your AI provider, your key
The builder works with Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI or Google (Gemini). Add your own API key on the Connections page and choose which one to use each time. Your description and the list of steps available on your site are sent to that provider. Building a workflow takes two or three requests, billed by the provider to your key.
Details
- The AI workflow builder is part of FlowWP Pro, included on Personal, Business and Agency with no daily limit. The free plugin does not include it.
- Only builds that produce a workflow count toward the day. A key the provider refused costs nothing, and the count resets at midnight in your site’s timezone.
- One generated workflow can have up to 20 steps.
- The FlowWP dashboard offers three ways to start: a ready-made template, a description for the AI builder, or a blank canvas.
