Data Mapping

FlowWP passes values from a trigger or an earlier step into later steps as tokens, chosen from a visual picker.

Available on: Every plan · variables and advanced mapping on Personal and above Compare plans

What it does

Data mapping moves information through a workflow. The order from the trigger, the contact you looked up, the answer from an API — every value a step produces is available to the steps after it.

Tokens

Values are referenced as tokens: {{ trigger.order.email }} for data from the trigger, {{ nodes.lookup.output.name }} for the output of an earlier step. You rarely type them — each field has a picker listing every value the steps before it produced. Formatters shape a value on the way, as in {{ trigger.order.total | currency }}.

Data tools

  • Format data, Date & time and Calculate — reshape values before they are used
  • Parse JSON, Build JSON, Parse a file and Create CSV — work with structured data
  • Set variables and Generate a value — keep and reuse values across a workflow

How it works

Tokens resolve at run time from the actual event, so the same workflow addresses each customer by their own name and order number. Because each step declares the values it outputs, the picker only offers values that earlier steps really produce.

Details

Tokens and the data picker are on every plan. Variables and advanced data mapping are on Personal and above. Plugins can add their own formatters through the FlowWP SDK.

Templates

Tell the customer on WhatsApp when their order ships

A completed order sends an approved template to the phone number on the order. WhatsApp only allows a template for a message a business starts, so write and submit one in the WhatsApp Manager first — its placeholders are filled in here with their name and the order number.

Every message is read by AI and filed as a question, a complaint or a sales lead, then passed to whoever handles that. Spam is recognised and dropped quietly.

  • Actions

FlowWP’s actions do the work: sending email, calling an API, updating a custom field or adding a note to an order and, in FlowWP Pro, creating and updating posts and users.

  • Conditional Logic

FlowWP branches a workflow with If / Else, stops a run that does not qualify with Only continue if, and, in FlowWP Pro, splits it several ways with Switch.

  • Triggers

In FlowWP, a trigger starts a workflow from a WordPress or plugin event, such as a post being published, a user registering, an order being paid, or a webhook arriving.
