WooCommerce Customer Automation: From First Order to VIP

Five WooCommerce customer workflows: add buyers to your CRM, turn first orders into repeat ones, respond to reviews, reward your best customers and keep in touch after delivery.

Order automation handles what happens to an order. Customer automation looks at the person behind it: their first purchase, the next one, what they say about you, and the point where they become one of your best customers. Each of those moments is a WooCommerce event, which makes it something a workflow can respond to. These five workflows cover the customer’s first months; each is a ready-made template in FlowWP.

Know who your customers are

An order is paid → add the customer to your CRM. Everything else builds on this. Add paying customers to FluentCRM saves every paying customer as a contact tagged Customer. If your list lives in Mailchimp, Put paying customers on your Mailchimp audience adds them as Pending, so Mailchimp asks them to confirm first — the compliant way round unless your checkout already asks for consent.

Turn a first order into a second

An order is paid → is this their first? → welcome, check in three days later, send a coupon a week after that. Turn first-time buyers into repeat customers checks a tag in FluentCRM to tell a first order from a returning one. First-time buyers get a short series spaced out with Delay steps; returning customers are simply tagged. Delays run in the background through Action Scheduler, so a workflow waiting a week holds nothing open.

Listen to reviews

A user reviews a product → four or five stars? → thank them with a coupon, or alert your team. Thank happy reviewers and catch unhappy ones uses an If / Else on the rating. Happy reviewers get a thank-you code; a low rating goes straight to a person, so an unhappy customer hears from someone quickly.

Recognise your best customers

There are two ways to decide who counts:

Lifetime spend is the fairer measure for stores with repeat buyers; a single large order is simpler for stores with occasional big purchases.

Keep in touch after delivery

An order reaches a status → send a WhatsApp template message. Tell the customer on WhatsApp when their order ships messages the phone number on the order when it is completed. WhatsApp only allows approved templates for messages a business starts, so the template is written and approved in WhatsApp Manager first.

Plans and what you need

WooCommerce’s order placed, order paid and order status triggers are on every FlowWP plan. The customer triggers used here — a review, a product purchase, lifetime spend — and the FluentCRM, Mailchimp, coupon and WhatsApp steps start on Personal. Each template page lists what it needs and what you fill in before switching it on.

See every WooCommerce trigger and action on the WooCommerce integration page, or the order side in WooCommerce order automation.
